  2.                     MPW ICON DOCUMENTATION FILES

  5. Several of the files on the distribution disk contain Icon documentation
  6. and background information.  All documents are  provided in two formats:
  7. (1) as plain  text files for easy viewing  in an MPW edit windoware text
  8. files and (2)  in a "rich text"  format  with multiple  fonts, pictures,
  9. etc.   The "rich text" files  are  either PostScript files or  Microsoft
  10. Word 3.x  format documents.   The PostScript files can be printed  using
  11. the  SendPS  application (included).   Most  Macintosh  word  processing
  12. programs can import  MS Word 3.0  documents, so viewing or printing them
  13. in their full splendor should present little problem.  The fonts  in the
  14. PostScript  and  Word  documents  are  optimized  for  printing  on  the
  15. LaserWriter.

  17. To  print the  "rich text" documents on the ImageWriter, they will  have
  18. the best quality if the fonts Times 12 and 10, Helvetica 12, and Courier
  19. 10 are installed  (or double those  sizes for  “best” quality printing).
  20. Much of the style of  the documents is expressed through their fonts, so
  21. it is best not to tamper with them unless absolutely necessary.

  23. To print the PostScript documents (in the "PostScript"  folder), use the
  24. SendPS  application (included).  Simply double-click the SendPS icon and
  25. choose the "Download" menu item of the "File" menu.
